The research and development program, launched in partnership with Daimler Truck, will supply the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) with 10 autonomous Zetros AI trucks and 10 MANDRILL unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).
The deployment aims to test and refine the newly launched platforms under real-world combat conditions, addressing Ukraine’s urgent need to modernize its military logistics amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
"Ukraine has a significant demand for military logistics solutions and operates a wide variety of military systems, including a large fleet of our trucks," Daniel Zittel, Chief Sales Officer at Daimler Truck Defence, said in a statement. He added that the trial will validate the operational readiness of trucks equipped with automated capabilities.
The autonomous Zetros trucks are retrofitted with Quantum Systems' MOSAIC Ground Autonomy Kit. The software-defined, modular architecture enables unmanned driving and robotic convoy operations, even in environments where Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are jammed or contested.
Hendrik Kramer, Vice President of Ground Domain at Quantum Systems, noted that the contract allows the company to gather frontline feedback on its newest products just months after their official market launch.
The financial details of the multi-million euro contract were not disclosed. The integration of these land platforms marks an expansion for Quantum Systems, which is already heavily involved in supplying reconnaissance drones to Ukrainian forces.
