The successful test firing marks a major milestone in land systems cooperation between the two companies. The resulting configuration combines heavy firepower with TULPAR's mobility, protection, and modular architecture.

According to the companies, the trials demonstrated the seamless integration of Leonardo's modern turret technology onto Otokar's new-generation tracked platform. The tests validated not only the configuration’s performance, interoperability, and operational readiness, but also TULPAR’s modularity and growth potential for future mission requirements.

Main battle tank firepower

Otokar’s TULPAR modular armored tracked vehicle features high mobility, firepower, and survivability. Designed with a growth potential ranging from 28 to 45 tons, its modular structure allows for a common hull and subsystems across various configurations.

Tested under extreme climatic conditions and rough terrain, TULPAR offers engine options of 700 hp or 1,100 hp based on customer specifications. The platform features advanced ballistic and mine protection, which can be upgraded up to STANAG 4569 Level 5 with add-on armor modules.

Designed to deliver heavy firepower up to 120mm, TULPAR can be equipped with either the Belgian-made Cockerill 3105 105mm turret or the Italian-made HITFACT MkII 120mm L45 turret. In its light tank configuration, TULPAR can operate in narrow streets, over lightweight bridges, and through densely wooded areas where heavier Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) cannot maneuver due to weight constraints.

Shortlisted in Brazil and Slovakia

The successful integration effort is expected to bolster Otokar’s standing in international procurement programs.

TULPAR was recently shortlisted for the Brazilian Armed Forces’ New Tracked Armored Vehicle Family Program—competing against 11 defense contractors from 10 countries—alongside BAE Systems’ CV90, Rheinmetall’s Lynx, and GDELS’ ASCOD.

Additionally, the platform remains among the final contenders in the Slovakian Ministry of Defence's tank procurement program, where it competes alongside BAE Systems Hägglunds’ CV90120 configuration.
