The AN-TPS 77-based radar system has logged more than 150,000 operational hours over two decades, allowing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to track and counter airborne threats across the Indo-Pacific region, the company said in a statement.
The sustainment program, centered in Australia’s Hunter region, has established a localized defense industrial network consisting of more than 65 specialized personnel and 170 regional suppliers. Lockheed Martin has partnered with domestic firms, including Daronmont Technologies, Varley Group, R&R Murphy, AFL Telecom, and Rojone, to support the system.
Recent modernization efforts focused on reducing the radar's operational footprint, improving safety, and increasing mobility for rapid deployment. As part of the upgrade, Lockheed Martin Australia delivered five new command-and-control systems to support ADF ground-based battle management during the Talisman Sabre 2025 military exercises. The system was also fitted with integrated voice communication technology tailored for international deployments.
The technical upgrades were supported by a technology transfer initiative from the U.S.-based Lockheed Martin Corporation.
"The lessons learned from sustaining the legacy TADRS will be carried forward into the air battle management enterprise," the company said, adding that the transition aims to ensure integration with future air defense platforms.
