The agreement transitions the large-scale procurement program, which encompasses a total of 98 vehicles, into the active serial production phase.

Part of the Brazilian Strategic Armored Forces Program (Programa Estratégico Forças Blindadas), this initial batch order comprises seven Centauro II vehicles equipped with the HITFACT MkII turret and a 120mm main gun.

The contract follows the successful completion of initial evaluation and operational test phases. Coming on the heels of previously delivered prototypes and pre-evaluation vehicles, this new order marks a vital turning point in modernizing the capabilities of Brazil's wheeled armored units.

Renowned for delivering main battle tank-level direct firepower on a wheeled platform, the Centauro II features a 720-horsepower propulsion system, an H-drive transmission, and digital integrated mission systems. The vehicle is specifically engineered to provide high strategic mobility for reconnaissance, border security, and combat operations.

The program will play a pivotal role in replacing aging platforms within the Brazilian Army’s inventory. The target procurement of 98 vehicles is planned for multi-year batches, bolstered by domestic industrial participation.

Already integrated into the Italian Army's inventory, the Centauro II platform officially expands its international market footprint into Latin America with this agreement. The deal activates a robust defense supply chain spanning vehicle hull and weapon system integration, advanced electronics, and through-life logistical support.

Subject to delivery schedules and annual budget planning, the program is projected to significantly enhance the operational compatibility and deterrence posture of Brazil's mechanized forces.
