ASELSAN's shield against the drone threat

Bu yazıyı paylaşın

ASELSAN demonstrated the capabilities of its countermeasure electronic warfare systems, developed in response to the evolving threat environment, during a demonstration event held for domestic delegations at the Gölbek Firing and Test Center. The event focused on Mini/Micro UAS and next-generation FPV drone threats and featured two different scenarios.

In the first scenario, the KANGAL FPV 100 Drone Mini/Micro UAS FPV Jamming/Disruption System was employed, while the EJDERHA AD 210 High-Power Electromagnetic (HPEM) Counter-UAS Countermeasure System was used in the second. The systems’ capabilities for detection, tracking, jamming/disruption, and neutralization under field conditions were comprehensively evaluated against different targets.

An Electronic Warfare Shield Against the Next Generation of Drone Threats

The rapid proliferation of drones and UAS is increasing the need for next-generation security solutions across a wide range of environments, from critical infrastructure facilities to operational areas. ASELSAN’s countermeasure electronic warfare systems offer a layered protection approach spanning the entire process from threat detection to neutralization.

One of the elements of this approach, EJDERHA AD 210, targets the electronic systems of UAS through its high-power electromagnetic technology. The system performs active detection using radar and target tracking using an electro-optical system. With its precision pointing capability, it can generate suppression, restart, neutralization, or damage effects against threats incorporating electronic circuitry.

Another element of this architecture, KANGAL FPV 100, operates with a Jamming Unit optimized against FPV threats and the MİRKET 200 RF Detection Unit. The system provides protection against Mini/Micro UAS and next-generation FPV threats through look-through reactive jamming capability against remote command-and-control, GNSS, data link, and telemetry frequency bands.

While there is no universal solution capable of providing comprehensive protection against every type of UAS threat on its own, KANGAL FPV 100 and EJDERHA AD 210 offer a layered protection approach through complementary capabilities tailored to different types of threats. When the two systems are used together, they provide comprehensive protection against UAS regardless of the type of threat.

KANGAL and EJDERHA Demonstrate Their Capabilities in the Field

As part of the demonstration event, KANGAL FPV 100’s detection, identification, and jamming/disruption capabilities against Mini/Micro UAS and next-generation FPV threats were tested through different scenarios. An observation drone, a wireless FPV drone, and various other types of drones were successfully neutralized using KANGAL FPV 100. VTX video and protocol analysis were also successfully performed during the event.

EJDERHA AD 210 likewise demonstrated its detection, tracking, pointing, and neutralization capabilities against different targets under field conditions. The system successfully neutralized multiple tethered FPV drones, tethered and wirelessly controlled drones, a fixed-wing drone, and an internal-combustion-engine-powered drone. The demonstration once again showcased the effectiveness of ASELSAN’s layered defense systems developed against UAS threats in real-world field conditions.
