Deepening a strategic partnership that spans over two decades, the new contract covers approximately 3,000 EAGLE V 4x4 command-and-control vehicles and 6x6 medium-class armored ambulances. The deal also includes options for up to 2,000 additional units in subsequent phases.
Under the supply chain agreement, deliveries of the transmission units are scheduled to commence in 2027. Shipments will be facilitated through Sterki AG, Allison’s authorized dealer and distributor in Switzerland. Serving as the dedicated transmission choice across all EAGLE series variants, the Allison 2500 Specialty Series™ (SP) fully automatic transmission ensures enhanced vehicle control and continuous power delivery in extreme off-road conditions.
Strategic Role of the EAGLE V Fleet
Developed by GDELS, the EAGLE V is ranked among the most advanced protected multi-role vehicles in its class. While the 4x4 variants provide tactical coordination as mobile command posts, the 6x6 armored ambulance configurations carry out critical medical evacuations and field health services staffed by emergency medical specialists.
The Bundeswehr has actively operated EAGLE IV and EAGLE V platforms for years, having inducted approximately 670 EAGLE vehicles into its inventory since 2008. The German military recently began receiving an order of 80 EAGLE V 6x6 protected ambulance vehicles in May 2025.
With this major follow-on deal, Allison Transmission further reinforces its strategic positioning within the global defense industry ecosystem.
