According to financial and operational updates as of June 30, the defense and space division generated €9.3 billion in revenue during the first six months of the year, up from €5.1 billion reported in the same period last year.
The company's A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) program surged closer to a major commercial milestone, with total firm orders reaching 91 units. The updated tally includes a recently booked order for six aircraft from an undisclosed customer. While defense sources and British media reports suggest Italy may be the undisclosed buyer, Airbus has not officially confirmed the client's identity.
Industry analysts note that if Rome opts to acquire pre-owned civil A330 airframes for conversion rather than newly built aircraft, Poland could become the launch European operator to receive a factory-new, next-generation A330 MRTT+ variant.
Concurrently, Airbus achieved a milestone for its next-generation tanker fleet in early July as the first A330neo platform rolled off the final assembly line in Toulouse to undergo conversion into the MRTT+ standard. Thailand is slated to become the customer to receive an aircraft modified to this upgraded configuration.
In its tactical and strategic transport portfolios, Airbus reported that total orders for the C295 tactical transport and special mission aircraft reached 335 units by the end of June, with 244 deliveries completed. Deliveries of the A400M heavy transport aircraft stood at 140 units.
In the combat aircraft segment, total deliveries for the Eurofighter Typhoon program reached 618 units.
Airbus also noted performance gains within its Airbus Helicopters division, though granular operational figures for the unit were not publicly detailed. The half-year figures underscore the group's continued market presence across its multi-role tanker, transport, and combat air platforms.
