Two German Eurofighter Typhoon jets crashed during a training exercise on Monday in northern Germany.
Both pilots ejected and one of the pilots was survived but the other pilot has died.
Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen said three unarmed fighter jets left their base in Laage, near the Baltic sea port of Rostock, shortly before 2pm local time.
Local media reported that part of the wreckage fell on the area of Malchow. Police warned people not to approach.
