US Approves King Air 350ER ISR Aircraft Sale

The State Department approved on Thursday the sale of four US-made intelligence and reconnaissance planes to Kuwait for an estimated $259 million.
Under the proposed deal, the Government of Kuwait has requested the sale of four King Air 350ER ISR aircraft equipped with upgraded PT6A-67A engines and one engine spare, four AN / AAQ-35 WESCAM MX-15HDi electro-optical and infrared imaging sensor turret, and four Selex Seaspray 7500E active electronically scanned array radars (AESA).
Kuwait also requested identification friend or foe systems, precision navigation equipment, ground data processing platforms, test equipment, repair parts, facility design and construction, simulators, training tools, logistics, technical and engineering support services.
Kuwait will use the aircraft to collect aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data as well as build up its military posture and situational awareness capability.
The deal will enable the country to collect its own airborne ISR data and establish its first dedicated airborne ISR fleet.
