Philippines purchases 16 Bell 412 EPI helicopters

The Philippines has purchased 16 new Bell helicopters from Canada for about $233.36 million, during the Singapore Airshow. The agreement is part of the country’s plan to modernize the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Bell Helicopter delivered eight 412EP aircraft to the Philippines in 2015. Initial deliveries would be made later this year. Most of the aircraft will arrive in 2019 and the order is expected to be completed in 2020.

The Bell 412EPI, which has a four-blade main rotor powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T-9 Twin Pac engine developing 1,800 shp for takeoff and can carry up to 14 passengers or a 5,100-pound useful load. The helicopters will be used for a variety of missions such as disaster relief, search and rescue, passenger transport and utility transport.
